That's why our commitment to education is built into the core ethos of every Polar 3D product. We want the power of 3D printing in every classroom, library, and makerspace to give everyone the opportunity to engage with this cutting edge technology.

Classroom-Friendly To The Core

The classroom is an active, ever-changing environment that presents a number of challenges to the educator. We at Polar 3D don't want our printer to be one of those challenges. That's why we build our Polar 3D printer and the Polar Cloud experience to be easy to use and highly reliable. Then, we back our products with engaging content and a deep level of training and support, as you'll see in our Content and Webinars section. We truly believe that when 3D printing becomes as easy to use as any other classroom tool, the possibilities for student creativity, learning, and growth open up ten-fold.

GE Additive Education Program 2017 - 2018

GE believes giving students access to additive technologies will help accelerate the adoption of advanced manufacturing worldwide. That’s why GE is investing $10 million over the next five years in educational programs aimed at developing future additive talent.  It’s all part of GE’s passion for improving student outcome and introducing future generations to new technologies.

 

Program Details

Under the GE Additive Education Program for Primary and Secondary Schools (“GE Program”), each participating school will receive a Polar classroom package consisting of the following:

Polar Cloud Premium Membership

  • Full license/access to GE Sponsored STEAMtrax Curricula for life of the Program

  • Membership in the GE Program Group

  • Eligible to participate in GE Program Challenges

  • Special Programming, including weekly GE Program Webinars & Training

  • Premium Support including dedicated account management

  • Analytics on your School’s Activities and GE Program Aggregated Data

 

Two 3D Printers (one from Polar and one from XYZprinting)

  • Both printers Polar Cloud enabled

  • Integrated with Google Classroom and accessible via any browser

  • 12 Rolls of filament (6 for each 3D printer)

  • Full warranty coverage

STEAMtrax License

  • Full STEAMtrax License during the duration of the Program

  • STEAMtrax Kit Tinkering with Turbines

Polar Farm Access

  • Access to the GE Additive Polar Farm, a bank of Printers made available to participating schools to manage overflow situations (additional fees apply)

  • Digital Manufacturing experiences in local and distributed environments

 

The GE Program’s first year will run from August 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018.  Selected Schools will receive their Polar classroom package in August and may register below for webinar and training sessions.  If you are not in this year’s inaugural class of participating schools, please sign up below to be notified when 2018 Application Forms become available.

David Thornburg & Team

David Thornburg’s background is rich and varied.  He received a PhD in engineering, physics and mathematics from the University of Illinois. After teaching part time at Stanford University & co-founding two startup companies, David shifted his focus to the world of educational technology.

You might recognize David Thornburg from his numerous keynotes at ISTE, his published work on 3D printing in the classroom, or for inventing the touchscreen as one of the first members of the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. David is our director of Education and Curriculum, and his bona fides and vast experience in the future of education make him the perfect fit for Polar 3D. David will be leading our curriculum development to better prepare students and educators for a progressive, hands-on future of education — where experimentation and doing are the keys to learning. We are so excited to have David on our team and further cement our educational experience. Nearly half of the Polar 3D team are active professors, former teachers, or current students — giving us firsthand awareness of the challenges faced in today's classroom. Couple that with the vast network of teacher advocate and ambassadors we have using and teaching with Polar 3D already, and we know we are leading the future of 3D printing education.

While we do offer scheduled live webinars for district groups and training existing customers, it'd be nearly impossible to find a webinar time that fits into the busy schedules of the educators and administrators that are interested in our platform of products. Therefore, we created a comprehensive webinar experience that you can have on your time schedule. Below is the full webinar, provided by our Director of Product Development, David Parrott. He walks you through the entire Polar 3D platform, including the basic features & benefits of the Polar 3D Printer, STEAMtrax Curriculum, and Polar Cloud. Like our live webinars, this virtual edition lasts roughly 1 hour, but you can start and pause the webinar to your heart's content, whenever you have the time to watch.
